Hey all, I have arrived in the adventure capital, Queenstown! The journey from Franz Josef took 8 hours, but it was the most stunning scenery for 8 hours, driving through twisty bends, through the southern alps, past snow capped mountains, clouds floating above the mountains and lakes so still they perfectly mirrored the alps! I felt somewhat of a modern day explorer, carving my way through the ice... no not really, the guide let me have a quick go to pose for a shot, but what an adventure! Felt also a bit like Jezza from Top Gear as they battled their way to the North Pole! We set off just after lunch and headed out on a 3KM walk to the foot of the glacier, where we strapped on our crampons, or Talons as these were called! And headed up the ice! TranzAlpine rail journey, all I can say is spectacular, managed to upload a few pictures, but I took hundreds! I've just arrived in Franz Josef and tomorrow, I'm going to hike the Franz Josef Glacier and I can't wait! What an amazing few days I've had! See you on the Glacier! Dinner time! :)
