What is it that makes a person quintessentially "English"?

Is it the continual underlying need to consume copious amounts of Earl Grey Tea? Or maybe the need to be a staunch royalist or lover of swans? Is it the desire to watch Shakespeare in Stratford @the Globe theatre no matter what the cost? To gaze upon the "Golden Finde" and appreciate the despicably audacious notion of an empire controlled by a tiny island led by a despot king! Maybe it is to be the eighth person to bare your name, to behead your wives whilst eating egg mayonnaise with "cress AND chives". Maybe my life will be complete with a pair of Gola shoes upon my feet with a neighbour called Jeeves and waders beyond my knees???
