The end of the trail, we are now heading back to Darwin on the same road but we saved a few places to see on the return leg.
Just a stones throw 70 km down the road is Lake Argyle the largest lake in North Australia (dammed). Had lunch there whilst looking up at Parrots and Lorikeets in the tree above.
We decided to stay at the nearby camp site. We had to wait for someone in reception to show us the camping area (normally they just give you a map). However he did turn up with his moped and instructions to follow him in our car. Thinking this was a big site we were surprised that he only went 20 meters.
One thing that keeps bugging me about the Aussies, they keep making a big thing about the size of Australia. I always found this a strange thing to keep pointing out, what meaning does this have. If you go to Africa or anywhere else they don't go on about the size of the continent as it does not mean anything to them, distance to water, food has. If I cross the channel from England I can drive to Cape Town or Singapore. However I dont go into all that - I just reply that it is nice and small (making reference to Africa and South America road trips we did).
The camp site has better views of the lake from the infinity pool (see the blog picture). It almost looks exclusive but is standard camp site cost. This pool is going to keep us here another night.
