Due to Kanab being cheap and centrally located for the sights we are staying put - also mad Wayne has a certain entertainment factor.
Down the road is Grand Canyon north rim. This journey had an added bonus of seeing our first herd of bison.
The north rim is higher than the south rim at 8800ft but still hot. Compared with the baked south rim (that we could see) the north rim has trees and far fewer tourists.
On the things to do before you die, it seems that seeing the Grand Canyon is high on the list - going by the age of Americans visiting it. It also seems that people with vertigo also want to see it, going by the number of people having to be egged along by their other half.
The number one question here is "where are you from" that is asked by everyone within ear shot. They seem to love it when you say England. I am a bit sensitive to the bigger is better mentality so when someone asked if we had anything as grand as this, I said no but we have seen one twice as deep. I did cushion it by saying that this is better however.
The Grand Canyon did not make me go WOW probally since we have seen so many impressive things here already (namely Bryce Canyon). Still got a bit more to do in America but I am pretty sure that Burning Man would be the highlight winner.
On the way back having a tired accelerator foot, I decided to have a play with the cruise control. It is a wierd feeling not having your feet on anything whilst the car turns on the power for a hill. Mountain roads are probally not the best place to try it out however.
Tomorrow the mighty Zion national park.
