We arrived in San Jose tired and wet from the long bus ride but also disappointed we weren't actually in Tortuguero where we were supposed to be. We were hoping to go to Tortuguero to see the turtles lay their eggs on the beach as well as do a canal ride to spot sloths, crocodiles and toucans! It also didn't help that San Jose wasn't the prettiest place in the world and we knew there wasn't much to see here. This could only mean one thing...time to regroup...and, actually two things, time for a drink!
Our hostel, The Pangea, was fairly central and had its own great bar and restaurant...bingo! We decided to have a look around for a few days and work out our next plan. We learnt very quickly that the city was quite seedy and we were staying in the red light district, although I am pretty sure the entire place was one big creepy hole!
We managed to find a great bookstore where Mark traded some books and some great sushi as well. Other than that it really didn't offer much. If i think of anything else then I will write it tomorrow because a security guard is breathing down my neck to close down the PC. Even though he looks 12, and I am pretty sure I could take him, i'll leave it here and say Buenos Noches! xx
....There really isn't much else to report on this city. We struggled to find nice places to eat, things to do and it isn't even that nice to walk around. We did get a lot of admin done though and the girls changed the travel plan to contine onto Mexico and Mark and I decided we would give the beach one more try but on the Pacific side.
We had a fantastic last night out at a nice restaurant called Cafe Mundo before Mark and I left the next morning for Tamarindo. Now that the girls get to London before us we won't see them until we arrive in Melbourne....when its all over and reality starts to kick back...aaahhhhhhhhh!
