After a disappointing stay in San Jose, Mark and I were keen to get back to the coast and hopeful that the Pacific side would bring much nicer weather. We arrived in San Jose tired and wet from the long bus ride but also disappointed we weren't actually in Tortuguero where we were supposed to be. We were hoping to go to Tortuguero to see the turtles lay their eggs on the beach as well as do a canal ride to spot sloths, crocodiles and toucans! It also didn't help that San Jose wasn't the prettiest place in the world and we knew there wasn't much to see here. This could only mean one thing...time to regroup...and,...

Mark and I had a very easy night bus ride through Panama to the border of Costa Rica. We got there very early and it was wet so we decided to find a cafe and have some breakfast whilst we waited for the border to open.
