25th Jan Mysore
Another full day on the bus 6.5hrs over the western ghats again beautiful journey if not too scary these drivers are crazy. I stick my head in a book and dont look, Mark on the other hand grips the seat in front biting his bottom lip!!!
Mysore Home of the Maharajo's Palace and well worth the visit, Stunning granduer at its best.. Restored after a fire in 1912 still has original doors and some carvings on the frame work.. Didnt have to use a guide, had plenty of information to keep us fed.. Day 2 took us up Chamundi Hill to visit Sri Chamundeswari temple which over looks the city.. Another festival meant there were loads of locals here all dutifully queing for their time to worship.. So again we didnt queue for hours just enjoyed the beauty and wonderful colours of the ladies Saree's This festival was Independance day which of course they should celebrate, We strolled back down 1,000 steps half way down we meet the Nandi (Shiva's Bull Vehicle) which is carved out of solid rock and stands 5mtrs high
Mysore was great for quick visit but after the hill stations the city was bit of culture shock again!!!
