We were up early and had breakfast overlooking the river! The lady who picked us up yesterday offered to take us to the bus station so that we could get the public bus out to Erawan national park to see a big waterfall. She showed us to the bus and we had obviously just missed one as we sat on it for 45mins before it left!! The journey took about 1hr 30mins and we saw some beautiful scenery on the way. There was no air con so all the windows were open but it was still very warm!!
Once at the national park we had a short walk to the falls. There are 7 levels and you stop at which one you like. It is impossible to get a pic of all the levels together as it is so big and spread out! We stopped at level 2 as it was the nicest pool to swim in. Mark went up to 3 and 4 but I stayed at 2 and watched cheeky monkeys and made friends with a little Thai girl! There were lots of warnings about the monkeys and there were lots of the about in the trees! One monkey made his way down to where a lady was sat and stole her bag of food and went up into the tree to eat it! He kept dropping crumbs which she wasn't too impressed about! There was one with a tiny baby too! Because there were so many we didn't want to leave our bag just in case so we had to take turns to get in! There were lots of fish swimming around the edges and when you got in and out they kept nibbling on you! The water here was a bit warmer than when we were on our trek, so much more bearable! We didn't have too long to play as we had to catch the bus back to town as we wanted to go to the Kwai bridge.
We seemed to be back in no time at all and after popping to the bakery we managed to persuade a tuk tuk driver to take us to the bridge and then back to our guesthouse! The bridge was just a normal railway bridge that you could walk across but some of the original fixtures remain. The prisoners of the war and some labourers worked on the line in 1942 and 116,000 people died while working on the bridge. There were lots of people visiting it and it got a bit crowded along the tracks so we didn't stay long.
Our tuk tuk driver took us back to our guesthouse where we showered and then went out for some grub! We then spent the evening in the internet cafe mooching!
Bangkok tomorrow and our posh hotel! Very excited! Sad though as it's our last stop!
