We left early morning with the intention of getting to Townsville by the evening! We stopped at south mission beach and Wongalong beach on the way from mission beach, just to have a mooch and compare with what we had! (ours was much nicer!)
We're following the Bruce highway most of the way down to Sydney and although the road isn't particularly great, some of the views are very pretty. Much of it is similar to home, with the green fields but you often pass some pretty spots or some real Australian parts where is flat, dry and open.

We stopped beside a beach in Cardwell for some lunch. It was a lovely beach but there were warnings of crocs so we didn't stay too long!
We made it to Townsville by about 3pm and went into the town centre. However, everything was already shut! Considering it was Saturday we expected it to all be open! So, instead we did some food shopping and found a lovely campsite not far from the town. It was like luxury compared with the cheaper sites we have bene staying on! We went swimming in their pool and enjoyed the facilities while we could!!

While driving we have noticed the amount of railway lines both alongside and crossing the roads! Many seem as though they are not in use and we believe theat they were/are used to carry all the sugar cane that is produced here. We have also seen lots of banana trees growing!
