We were up early again and ready to leave quite early so we had the whole day to spend in Brisbane. The roads were fairly quiet in comparison to yesterday and we managed to park easily and for free! We went for a look around the main part of the city/shopping area, Queens street mall. There were allsorts of shops and food places, many of which hadn't opened as we were too early! We went to King George square where the city hall is and up to central station. We stopped and mooched at the anzac war memorial which was quite impressive! The city is quite modern but there are many older buildings mixed in too.
After quizing the lady in tourist info, we popped to the library to mooch on the internet quickly and to sort some bits and bobs out. From there we found ourselves wondering through the art gallery! We were only looking for a toilet but had a look around anyway! It was quite cool and they had a section of junk modelling for children were they were encouraged to make aeroplanes which were then hung from the ceiling!
From there we walked along the south bank by the river. It was very hot today, about 37c and all the families seemed to be out chilling in the pool and beach, and having bbq's! This is a regular occurence here and bbq's are provided in most parks for you to use. We like this idea, if only it was worth having at home!
We crossed the river from south bank and walked through the botanic gardens. This also ran alongside the river so there was a lovely cool breeze. After having lunch in the camper and chilling for a while we headed back into the shopping area to have a look around while the shops were open! There was such a difference to early in the day as it was so busy everywhere!!
We continued to look around and popped back to the city hall to see if we could climb the tower but it was closing as we got there! Instead we jumped back in the camper and went to find some places of interest futher out from the city. We managed to find the old windmilll which is the oldest surviving structure in Queensland and two big cathedrals! It took us a little longer than expected because the maps we had were not that accurate!!
From there we headed back to the same campsite as last night and the lovely lady let us stay again! We had Sushi for dinner which is a first for us and surprisingly we both liked it!!
