The weather forecast for during the night was to be stormy and very wet..the first bit of bad weather since we've been here! Luckily we didn't hear anything and slept well! However we woke up to a very dull and wet day..humf!
We spent some time at the hostel, on the internet booking some hostels in Banff and for Marks birthday. We managed to escape the rain and made it to the local shopping centre for brunch! We then took shelter there for much of the day and used the time to catch up on our diary/blog and to drink coffee..from Tim Hortons..obviously! We the discovered the library and that it was free to use the internet so took full advantage and updated the blog. We then just wondered around the city dodging the rain. We've both decided that we're not fans of Winnipeg. There are some real poor areas and it can be quite scary at times. We think we stand out because we have decent clothes etc. we took shelter at the hostel for a while before making our way to the bus station before it got dark - 3hrs early..but safe!
Forgot to say last time, but we both really like Canada - apart from Winnipeg! Think it is partly to do with the people and how friendly and helpful they are, but also to do with how everywhere is looked after! There are small touches everywhere..like colourful bears, snazy water features/fountains and nice parks!
I have also made a discovery..I don't think Mark is Irish after all! We have seen soooo many signs with McNally on! I'm convinced there is a Canadian connection!!
The shopping centres have skywalks connecting them - very handy for rain dodging! Afterall..they were built for bad weather!
Also had a very yummy dinner - actually tried something new (Told you we would Michael!). It was only Chinese - honey and garlic chicken with veg and rice...but was very yummy n cheap!
