So I am back to write a story, after a much needed night of sleep. I have moved to Sydney again, where the doors to the tennis will open in 2 hours. I'm doubting so much if I would go or not, because I'd love another day of surfing. But today iam going there and hope to see Feli. Maybe I"ll go only on monday then en skip tuesday, I dunno, I am a Gemini you know, so I can change my mind easily. ;) Let me tell you about yesterday first now.
Today was just an average day, I didn't have a lot of time in the city before my trip to the airport so i thought it was a good idea to do the hop on, hop off tour and see some of the city highlights. Now I have to be honest and tell you that it was a bit diasppointing to me. Maybe this is because I started my trip in Sydney, which is the biggest city of Australie. Not sure if I told you before, but here live 5 million people. Strange to think that in whole Holland live 6 million heads... haha, we definately have less space per head of the population.
I joined the tour on the first bus, and this one was already too late! Matt took me the day before to a lookout point, and from there we could see the other famous point. Mount Cootcha. It's a variation of Kuta, which means honey in Aboriginee. Guess they have found honey in earlier days. This spot has always been a favourite for picknicks for the Australians, and with the view it's not hard to understand why. I had my breakfast on this top, with a delicious cup of strong hot coffee.
Waiting for the bus I met two women from Adelaide, who did holidays in their own country, and had been to the tennis in Brisbane too. This bus was late too but it didn't matter as I had now company to talk with about tennis. :)) They went to the Regatta hotel, the one we saw from the koala boat too, and it seems that in that hotel was arranged that the law in Australia was changed to women could order alcohol at the bar too. I have to be thankful for them as I love a cold beer every now and then. ;) Shame that I can't remember the year, but don't blame me, as I am overloaded with dates and information those days.
I got off the bus at the central station of Brisbane again and wandered around a little bit. There's an eternal flame, to remember all the deaths from the both worldwars, there was a nice park and also a cathedral. My trip with the bus ended in the city, as I had one more thing to do in town. I got myself a shorts in the australian colors haha. I love wearing bright colors and this is some kind of beach shorts in yellow, with green colors. I just had the wrong size so changed it for a good one.
At 2.30 I was back in my hostel, to check out the internet a bit and to change clothes for the flight to Sydney. I was proud of mysef at the airport, I can take only 15 kg of luggage for checkin, and my big backpack was exact 15 kilograms! So I was safe and had a lot of time to wait till we could board the flight. Too bad this was one with lots of children on board, and it was early evening so they were all tired and screaming. One of the worst flights I had ever had, but I plugged in earplugs and wrote in my travel book so it went fast.
This time my place to stay is close to the central station, in fact, when I open the window, I see the trains leaving. But the hostel is sound proof, and it's huge and clean here, nothing to complain. I don't know if this is an upgrade or not, but I am now in a dorm with 8 beds, but with own toilet and bathroom. ;)
anyway, I am not here to laze around in bed so after a refreshing shower I took off to the harbout to check out the giant duckie. Not hard to find and whole Sydney was taking pics at the duck haha. Someone made me a pic too but I would like some crazy ones too. Ah well, I can't complain, because it's now 8 in the morning and there's tennis waiting! I see the sun peaking through the curtains so it's a promising warm day. I better get dressed and on the way to the train soon. So excited, but also scared a bit. Usually I show up in Europe, now on the other side of the world. ;)
We will see, I can't wait to watch a flurry yellow object bouncing the Australian courts. ;)
