I'm getting sad when i realise that my trip is on one third already. Today was a day of walking and enjoying the sun, but also of thinking. I would love to be here for a longer time, maybe half a year or a year. To work here and to live here and to make friends here. I miss in this hostel a little bit the atmosphere the onne in sydney. Because after all, I felt good in my room and in this room ppl don't talk to eachother somehow. Or maybe they do only when I am not back but I didn't come all the way to Oz to be on a dorm room. I am here to have a good time and make the most of it.
So one thing that I like about travelling alone is that I can go with the flow. Just change my mind when I want to, and so i did today. First plan was giong to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to get my pic with the koala cuddling but soon as I had showered, my legs decided different. I went to the station and bought a ticket to Cleveland, home to the ferry to Stradbroke Island. Haha what a ferry ride I had. It was very windy today at the coast, so there were lots of waves hitting the ferry. i was seated on a corner, so got all the drops on me every time there was a wave. This was funny for a couple of times, tll my neighbours started taking pics of me hehe. I was thinking of sitting there for the whole 25 minutes to Straddie, but I gave up after 15 minutes. i was soaking wet already without having swum in the sea! Hahaha both the captains were laughing and told me that they already wondered how long it would take before I would come inside.
Once inside I had the change to dry a little bit before leaving the ferry. I just love going with ferries, every time again. :) Once on the island I started with a walk aruond the north part of the island. Those waves banging on the coastline, wow. I am so glad I don't hae to swim in them, they almost scare me when they touch the rocks.
After this walk I had lunch before going on a stroll around the island. I didn't see the bycicle hire and somehow I didn't feel like I had to ride a bike. I am fine with walking as I can see a lot when walking. I came to several beaches, like the main beach, the deadmans beach, the frenchmans beach and finally the cylinder beach. On the last beach was patrol of livesavers so I thought it would be safe to take a swim and soak up the sun. So I did and i had a lovely hour of relaxing there.
When I was dry again, i continued my walk and took some photos everywhere. I did see a kangaroo board on the side of the road, but unfortunately no kangaroo. :( The bus came later to go back to the ferry terminal so I took a look on the main beach. Again I was nearly bown off a cliff, good thing that I am not coming too close to the edge with those windy moments.
I took the bus and ferry back to the mainland and shared a laugh with the second captain. He recognised me from the morning, when I took the ferry to the island. This time no rain of drops for me as I was on the safe side of the glass. ;)
Once back in Brisbane I had a nice walk again, discovering the south bank of this city where the river beach is. Even at 8.30 pm there are still lots of kids playing in the pool with their parents chatting or barbequeing on the beach. I love that way of living, the people here just bring coollboxes full of lunches, make their own meals and throw it all on the barbeque. I love it and it makes me feel like buying my own stuff and putting it on a bbq, jsut to get that laid back feeling of a summer day in the parc.
I ended the day in a pub with a couple of beers. I miss having someone to drink a beer with, although I love my journey so far a lot. I can do what I want, and when i want, but beers need to be shared... But it was good to catch up with writing in the book that my mother bought me for christmas, to write down travel memories and there was a nice guy at the bar who gave me beers for 6 dollar instead of 7. :)
Now I am in the hostel again, and sitting on my bed writing this blog. Roommates almost all asleep here so I guess I better don't make it too late either. Tomorrow it's time to get my first hug of 2013, from a Koala hopefully! I can't wait ;)
First let me upload some pics of paradise in Straddie and then off to sleep. G'nite y'all! Oh btw, did I tell you already that I am taking over some th8ings they say here? I reply often too with 'no worries' just like they do here when you say thanks or when they just helped you. Another awesome thing:))
