Sao Paulo wasn?t exactly where we wanted to be when we returned to Brazil, especially after having stayed in a dump the first time round and the crappy weather, however we started to appreciate it a lot more the second time, as we stayed in a nicer area and met some really fun people in the hostel we were at. After having travelled from the ?end of the world? to half way across the continent on Rakhee's birthday, we arrived shattered the following day in a very sunny Sao Paulo (makes a change!).  We slept most of the day (fine way to spend a 22nd birthday!), and finally emerged in the afternoon. Two months had gone by without any Indian food and by this point we were craving for it, so when we found out there was a place in the city that was meant to be ?alright?, (some reviews online said it was rubbish but we didn't care) we got really excited and made our way to the restaurant. It was named Tandoor (how original!!), and had some mediocre Indian decor and seating inside, however the food was quite a hit with us and we munched our way through curry, paneer, naan, rice, lassi, kulfi and masala chai! To be honest though, it could have been the worst Indian food we had ever eaten, but we would never have realised it at the time. Having satisfied our craving and stuffed to the max, we moved our dehli-bellys over to a bar for a birthday drink...turned out that this bar had a live band playing classic English rock song covers, but singing in Portugese! It took us a while to realise and after not knowing the words to Aerosmith in Portugese, we dashed out of the groupy crowds and decided to save the big party for the next night. The next day we went to the hospital to get Marisha's knee checked out. It was the fastest hospital service we had ever encoutered as we were in and out of the Emergency Room in 20 minutes! (YES really!) We worked out that it would probably be faster to fly from London to Sao Paulo and be seen in the hospital there AND fly back to London, than to wait in A&E in an NHS hospital in the UK! Though we were seen fast, the doctor ended up being quite young and more interested in us than fixing the knee...He gave Marisha a prescription for some anti-inflammatory drugs and we got out of there before he could ask any more questions about where we were going to be going out that night! To add to our delight (and to add to the shaming of the NHS), we didnt even have to pay for the visit to the hospital- TALK ABOUT SERVICE! That night we went to a real life Paulisto's (people who live in Sao Paulo) house party, close to the hostel. He had met some of the people staying at our hostel and invited us to have some drinks with his friends. When we arrived we realised how rich this guy must have been. He lived in a 3 storey house all by himself with a MASSIVE swimming pool downstairs and tons of rooms sprawling from all floors. Apparently his family owned the place, but they had a house somewhere else too so he was welcome to it most of the time! It was an incredible house in a really nice part of the city and we had a great time meeting new people and just mingling with locals. We realised just how friendly people outside of the UK are and this is something that would NEVER happen in London. Not wanting to outstay our welcome, we left a bit later and hit some bars to celebrate Rakhee's birthday properley. The next day we left, heading westward towards Campo Grande.... Â
