At long last we managed to leave Egypt, we boarded the ferry at Aswan headed for Wadi Halfa in Sudan. Four hours after boarding the ferry, we actually left the dock and another 24 hours later we arrived in Sudan. There is very little in Wadi Halfa and we survived on a diet of bread and something called Foul Beans which certainly lived up to their name. Hi Folks, I am back in Aswan now after having a rather extended stay in Dahab. After the initial ferry delays there was more bad news, we discovered our new crew Sean & Bridget were missing and as we had already met them briefly we were confused and surprised when they didn't turn up for their induction meeting. After frantic phone calls to our previous guide Tania and to the local hospitals we joked that they had done a bunk and run off with the kitty...

Still here in Dahab, we should have left yesterday but we have been delayed by 4 days because the end of Ramadan festivities are about to begin. No great disaster though as I am loving it here!! Just recovering from a nasty bug which had me puking all over the pavement in front of a bunch of Egyptian shopkeepers too! Ah well, no doubt there will be worse embarrassment to come!

I am now in Dahab, which is on the coast of the Red Sea and this is the life!! After leaving Luxor we had another 8 hour train journey back to Cairo to sort out out Sudanese visas which went surprisingly smoothly for all of us except an American girl who had a bit more difficulty.
