Tuesday 6th March (New Zealand time) was a day of R&R. We stayed on at Carter's Beach, near Westport. Tony went for a 12 mile run, followed by a dip in the Tasman sea - brrr! I watched with interest to see how a campsite looks with no campers in it - very nice. I had the laundry all to myself, and got some washing and drying done, went for a long walk along the beach, which was completely deserted apart from a woolly black dog who ran up with a stick in his mouth but due to my poor standard of stick throwing, soon got bored and ran off. In the evening, we wandered along to the one and only beachfront bar / restaurant, and after a heavy meal, a very rich dessert, 2 large glasses of wine and bucket- sized cups of coffee, we slept really badly, and woke up exhausted - so much for re-charging our batteries!
