Well havent we had a busy week in Noosa. Noosa is a lovely little seaside town and similiar to Byron Bay.
We were with Jenny and Steph for the week but had to leave them yesterday after a month of travelling with them. We'll see them again in a week though. We arrived in Noosa on Saturday. We were planning on going out but Marie and Steph were struck down with a mystery illness for the night! Sunday, we tried out the beach (as we were all feeling better). The beach is beautiful, one of the best we have seen and the weather was fab. It was nice swimming in the sea there as the water is totally calm.
On Monday, we caught the free shuttle bus to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin Zoo). We were there by 9.30am and went straight to see the enormous tortoises. We then went to feed an Asian Elephant called Bimbo. It is so weird feeling an elephant trunk grab the food from your hands. After this, we quickly marched down to the crocoseum to get a good seat for the famous show. They started with birds and snakes before bringing out Graham the croc. It was a good show and just like it is on TV. We went to see the other animals, before holding a baby Koala. It was so cute and really was cuddly. The ones at the zoo had been hand reared and that is why we could hold them. If you picked up one in the wild, it would attack you!! They also had a massive walking Kangaroo enclosure where you could buy roo food and feed them. We decided to become kids again and feed the Kangaroos. We also had a look around the memorial area for Steve. It was nice to see that all over the park, his name is mentioned about everything. It was a really good day and we could have easily gone back.
On Tuesday, it was another beach day before going to see Shrek 3 at the cinema which we loved. On Wednesday we once again, ventured to the beach. Early night Wednesday night as we had to get up at 5am on Thursday.
Thursday morning we were picked up at 6.10am to go and feed wild dolphins in Tin Can Bay. We got there just before 8am and had to battle through the huge pelicans to go to the toilet. They are harmless but look scary!! We then queued to get our fish and then jumped into the water knee deep. The dolphin that turned up was called Patch (a Indo Pacific Dolphin). We then took it in turns to bend down and feed her. As there was not a lot of people there, we had the chance to feed her twice. It was really nice having the opportunity to have a wild dolphin take food from your hand and once again an experience we will not forget.
Thursday night, we went out for Jennys birthday. The hostel does not allow your own alcohol and they even come round and do checks!! That didn't stop us though from having our usual getting ready drink. We just jumped everytime there was a knock at the door and hid the evidence. We managed to make it out to the hostel bar that plays party music before heading down to the only club, The Rolling Rock. We do not really like that club though.
On Friday, we went for a walk around Noosa National Park which was really nice. We done the walk around the coastline and it really was beautiful. We even got to see a wild Koala again. You should all be proud of us for voluntarily doing a 5km walk and enjoying it. Krisha also managed to bump into a bloke called Jamie that she use to go to Uni with so we might see him in Cairns again (small world ay!).
On Saturday it was time to move on again. It was a 5 hour coach ride to Hervey Bay. We are now excited and waiting to do Fraser Island tomorrow. It has definately been a week for feeding animals.
