Ok the suspense is over. Here is our next installment and what a story we have for you.
So we got up early Sunday morning at 5.30am to catch our bus to Vegas. We were meant to be picked up at 6.30am. So we are at the stop early and waiting. By 7am we were starting to get anxious so Krish went to ring the tour operator and left Marie waiting round the corner for them to turn up. When Krish got through, they told here that the time was 8am and the clocks had gone forward. No one had told us and our bus was already on the freeway. Krisha was not in the best of moods and we'd been charged the full amount (transfers, hotel & tour of Grand Canyon). However, we solved our first problem when Marie suggested we made our own way to Vegas and re-join the tour. We rang the company back up and they said it would be fine to rejoin we just had to print of some vouchers. This was easier said than done on a Sunday morning when all the internet cafes were shut. None the less we lugged our backpacks half way across town to the Greyhound depot and booked ourselves on the 11.25am bus to Vegas. 7 hours later, we arrived in Las Vegas and checked into our hotel, Imperial Palace on the strip. We immediately found a computer there, printed our vouchers and we were on our way. Can we just say that we were little kids when we saw we each had a double bed, lots of clean fluffy towels and a powerful shower. You would have thought we had never been in a hotel room before.
As we didn't have long in Vegas, we had to quickly freshen up and head out. First was the New York New York Hotel which had its own replicas of the Statue of Liberty, Empire State and Brooklyn Bridge. It also had its own roller coster running through and around the hotel. We also went into the MGM Grand which had real lions in an enclosure in the middle of the casino. Supposedly there because as that is their logo. We also saw Luxor which is an actual pyramid with an egyptian theme (as you will see from Maries not very good egyptian pose). The last hotel we fitted in was the Bellagio which has the dancing water fountains (out of Oceans Eleven). So we watched them dance to 'My heart will go on'. It was very pretty.
After little sleep, we awoke to get up for the Grand Canyon but then realised we had been a little to eager and set the alarm clock an hour earlier than intended. Back to bed for an hour. We eventually got picked up at 6.30am and set off for the Grand Canyon. First stop Hoover Dam for a few pictures and a leg stretch. Next stop was lunch which was a 3 course buffet (we made the most of that). We eventually arrived at the Canyon at 2pm but when we saw it, all the travelling had been worth it. The views were magnificant and we couldn't get over how massive it was. Krisha didn't get too near the edge as she does not like heights and it was a fair way up. All in all, we spent appox 4 hours on the bus and 12 hours on, arriving back at the hotel at 10pm. We could have fallen into bed but as we still had half of the strip to see, we set of again.
We passed the Treasure Island hotel and saw a glimpse of their live action pirate show. We also passed the Mirage and Wynn which had beautiful water features outside. We finished at Circus Circus but had just missed the last circus act which was at 12. We started our trek back and once back at our hotel, we had to have a little go on the slots. Not for long though as we were shattered. We then retired to bed and decided to have a lay in in our nice hotel.
After we checked out the following morning, we had a couple of hours to have a look around. Vegas is hot during the day!! We were picked up at 2.30pm by a Japenese bus company full of only Japanese people and complete with Japanese TV. Good job we had our MP3's. Just when we thought we could relax, we found out we could only be dropped off at China Town. We overcome this problem aswell though and found our way back to the hostel on the Subway. We then arrived back in Hollywood.
What a suprise when we got back. We think the manager took a shine to us as this time we were given a 'private room'. This basically consists of 2 matresses on the floor. We were just happy to have the space and room to ourselves.
Yesterday, we caught the bus to Rodeo Drive so we could have a proper walk about. We sat in a Cafe trying to star spot but our efforts were unsucessful. After a walk around Beverly Hills, we returned back to the hostel to do our washing (we're getting quite good at it).
Today were just going to wander about before getting our flight to Fiji tonight for a well earned rest. Computers will be few and far between out there, so don't know when we will next be able to update. Hope you enjoy all our new pictures. XXX
P.S. One morning, they were unveiling a new star, so we have taken a few pictures of possible celebrities who were attending the ceromony (everyone else was taking pictures of them). Does anyone recognise any of them?? The new star was for a DJ out here but we hadn't heard of him.
Yes we have been snap happy and don't forget to check the rest of New York photo's out.
