Sydney is nearly over already, its gone so fast. Heres what we've been up to -
Last Saturday morning we were getting picked up by Oz Experience to make our way to Sydney. The day was off to a good start when the buses battery had gone flat. This meant that we had to all push the bus to jump start it. It was quite amusing. After we eventually got going the driver said he wanted us to all introduce ourselves to eachother over the microphone. There was 19 of us on the bus and we soon all became friends. We stopped at Wilsons Promontory where we done a 1.30hr walk and saw some more kangaroos. We were also at the most southernly point of Australia. The walk led us across squeaky beach (it really does squeak when you walk!). Then it was of to Lakes Entrance where we spent the night.
Last Sunday, we were up early to see the sunrise over the lake. It was quite pretty and there was also black swans. It was then a 4hr drive on a dirt track to get to Jindabyne. It was very bumpy. We drove up into the ski resorts and through Charlottes Pass. Although at this time of year there is no snow. We didn't even know Australia had a ski resort. We done a quick walk down to Rainbow Lake and also saw a pink gumtree. We then went back to the motel and had a dip in the swimmingpool and some time in the sauna before dinner. We all had dinner together and then moved next door to the bar. We played pool and mixed with the locals. Marie also won killer pool so if your wondering what the cap is about, it was her prize and she insisted she wore it. Dont worry shes not trying to set a new fashion trend.Â
On Monday, another early start but this time we were given a fry up. Back on the road towards Canberra (the capital). There really isnt a lot there but we had to go and see parliament house. It was then the final leg to Sydney. We arrived at 5pm, quickly freshened up before going out with our group and guide for dinner and drinks. We ended up in Scruffy Murphys (a bar) that has been recommended to us along the way. We had a really good night with our group but didn't want to get up the next day.
On Tuesday, we had the most unproductive day yet. We lazed about and done laundry.Â
On Wednesday, we thought we should go sightseeing. We walked down to The Rocks (the oldest part of Sydney). From here we could see Sydney Harbour Bridge before walking over to the Opera House. We walked right around the outside and its suprising how big it is. We then walked around the Botanical Gardens which are massive and also give great views of the Opera House and Bridge. We were also suprised to see wild cockatoos in the gardens. It was funny watching the Japenese people feed them. They soon regretted it as the birds wouldn't leave them alone. After this, we walked around Darling Harbour where we watched an aboriginal digaredoo show. After all that walking we were very tired so had an early night.
On Thursday, we thought we needed to relax a bit so we headed to Bondi with some of the girls. We spent the afternoon on the beach and also went in the sea. A 70 year old man was then trying to teach us how to use body boards. So much fun and the waves were massive. That night, we were supposed to have a bbq on Bondi but when it came down to it, pizza was an easier option. We had all gone down there and after pizza we walked along Bondi. It was so peaceful down there at that time of night.
On Friday, we went to Paddys Market and looked around the shops. That evening, the whole group decided to check out Kings Cross (the clubby part of Sydney). We started of at World Bar which had been highly recommended to us. We failed to see why. We ended up crashing a birthday party there on the top floor as it had better music and more space. We then went to Moulin Rouge and got in free because of the size of our group. We weren't there very long though before heading to Empire. This was good and we spent the rest of the night there before getting the free bus home.Â
On Saturday, us and some of the girls caught the ferry to Manly beach. We thought today would be a good day to have a beach day as we were feeling a little delicate from the night before. The beach is similar to Bondi but bigger.
On Sunday, we decided to do the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb.  It was a 3hr experience which involved 1439 stairs. It also involved climbing ladders which Krisha was not fond of.  There were great views from the top of the bridge and it wasn't as strenuous as we imagined (either that or we're getting fitter).  Check out the outfits in the photos. Very sexy. We didn't realise until we'd finished how tiring it was. We had a quick look around the Rocks Market before heading back to the hostel. As most people were moving on today (Monday), we decided to go out for a couple of last drinks together. We were back down Scruffy Murphys but a couple of drinks turned into a proper night out. We got in about 4am and the others only had 1hr kip before they had to get their bus. We felt very sorry for them.  Good night out though.
Monday (today), we finally dragged ourselves out of bed to do the last few bits in Sydney. We went up one of the bridge pylons for more views of the city and to take some photos (we weren't allowed our cameras on the bridge climb). We done some last minute shopping and tonight planning to see the harbour at night time. We've had a great time in Sydney and it really is an amazing city. It was even better being in a big group for the week and hopefully we'll bump into them further up the east coast. Â
