So after my dodgy stay in the worst hostel I've stayed in so far, I thought my start would be easy as I was just round the corner from the bus station, I was packed and had my ticket! So I got there for 5:30 in the morning ready for my 6am bus and grinned at the queue waiting for their tickets and headed to the bus only to be stopped by security to get a luggage tag!! So I had to join the massive queue to get my luggage tag, I made the bus by 2 minutes, that definitely woke me up!!!
The bus took me through some beautiful spots and I was quite gutted that I couldn't stop and explore some of the places but was a nice journey.
So I made it to Keremeos just before 1pm and Peggy was there waiting for me!! So Peggy and Dave own a vineyard with their daughter Megan and Cory and their kids Jayce and Nevaeh, it is an awesome place in a little town called Cawston in a valley surrounded by mountains! They welcomed me into the family instantly.
I pretty much had time to dump my stuff and they were taking me down to the river to go swimming and jump off the bridge! It was so high and I had a moment of panic before I jumped, I sort of changed my mind as I jumped thinking I should dive and landed chest first and lost my bikini top on impact and had sore boobs for a bit, but it got a laugh out of everyone!!
That evening they had a lot of family over for dinner and wine drinking and it was lovely to be in some where so nice, relaxing with great people, I didn't have to worry about staying in a hostel and could just relax, the previous few weeks had taken its toll a bit!
The next day we headed to Penticton and Summerland to go out on a boat on the lake, we had drinks and a BBQ on the boat and went tubing with the kids on the back of a speed boat, where I then lost my bikini bottoms!! My damn bikini just won't stay on and my white butt was bouncing in the air for all to see, I bailed quite quickly to pull them back on!!
So the next day the work in the vineyard started, I was up at 5:30 to start work at 6, the work was good, just going along the rows of vines and cutting them back and making sure the grapes are getting enough sun. We work for 5 hours in the morning as it gets so hot by 11 that it's hard to work out there.
I spent a lot of the afternoons reading books, going for runs, watching tv and playing with the kids, it was a great way to spend my 2 weeks.
So I decided I needed a car to get around and see more than just getting the bus, this country is just so big and it's still hard to get to grips with the distance, so the family took me around to look at cars. So I managed to get one for $500, it's a Buick regal which I have named Reg!! It's my first car which is automatic and has the gear shift by the steering wheel! This will be my home on the road and will give me a bit of freedom to see more!
Had a fantastic time here and would of stayed longer but have agreed to work on a produce farm in Edmonton which is about 650 miles away, so I will take a leisurely drive through Banff park and up to Jasper through the ice fields and then to Edmonton where I will be a month.
Want to say a massive thank you to the Mutch family for all the help and being so welcoming and making me part of the family for the last 2 weeks, had a awesome time and will be back to come see you, especially if you move to Ecuador!!!
Now for the driving on the right, dodging the wild life on the roads and sleeping rough for a few days, catch you all on the other side!!!
