FInally arrive in Goa after a long 13 hour bus journey on a sleeper coach, it was like sleeping in a coffin me and anoushka laid head to toe side by side and as there was no space couldnt move or we would have kicked each other in the head!, hopefully wont be doing that type of journey very often. First funny experience of the trip was when i needed the toilet during the night.....i didnt mention there's no toilets on the bus. The bus eventually pulled over and me and a few indian women were having a wee having at the side of the bus with cars going past. Bit of a weird moment having 3 indian women watching me while I had a wee lol, got a bit of stage fright lol.
We are staying in Calangute, its more touristy than Mumbai the kind of place people come for 6 months of the year and not do very much. Staying at Molly Malones, owned by a guy called leslie who has always dreamed of having in irish bar...even though he hasnt even been to Ireland! Went on a bus trip to south goa visiting old churches and temples, seen the glass Casket of Saint Francis Xavier in the Basilica of Bom Jesus church, St Xavier died in 1552. Spoke to some friendly Indian families who were also on the bus trip, they were all intrigued at us going travelling for 8 months.
Have been in goa now for 2 weeks and I really like it here. Have had 2 weeks of relaxing by the beach,a few little tourist trips, lovely meals and good company before the hectic tour of north india starts. Have had some interesting conversations about god and peoples believes. Indian people i've spoke to are all so friendly. When having conversations about religion they cant beleive that i dont believe in god. They also find it strange that Im 32 not married and live alone. The food is also very nice and cheap, the est meal so far is Panner Tikka from Anthonys at Baga beach (right on the beach front). Feel like i could live here, its nice and chilled out.
