landed in mumbai on 3rd and was greeted by the searing heat! far to hot. We got in a taxi and had only just left the airport when we had a little girl knocking on the window begging...not a nice experience and a tast of things to come. Stayed in a nice hotel called Bentleys in Coloba but on a road that is never quiet always horns beeping, constant traffic, people shouting at all times during the day and night. First impressions of mumbai are its sooo busy and dirty, familys living on the streets and constantly busy. Not quite sure if i'm going to like India if this is whats its like, loving the food though, tastes so much nicer than english indian food, Its such a big culture shock to the system.
Been here for 4 days now and on our 2nd day we were extras in a bollywood movie called ra-one, had to wear work wear and 80's style makeup,i was right at the front of the scene we were filming.....so keep your eyes peeled if i make it into the final cut lol (Update January 2012 the film was released around the world and........im in it! blink and you'll miss me but im in it lol) The assistant director was an english bloke called terry who worked on the film Inception, didnt come across as a very nice man. Met some lovely australians called Koby and Jenna who passed on their travel knowledge...im sure it will come in handy along the way. One of the things Koby said was at times you need a holiday from travelling, not quite sure how that works but im sure i'll find out in the future.
Our 2nd hotel is just 2 streets down from the Taj Mahal hotel....ours is called hotel prossers!! not extactly the same standard as taj mahal lol. Only stayed at Prossers for a few days, i wouldnt recommend staying here a bit dirty and we all got conjuctivits which was being passed around the hotel...nice. Looking forward to leaving mumbai. As the commonwealth games are on in a few days in Dlehi we were unable to get a train or bus booked to travel north as planned. Maybe this is first lesson in travelling, you have to go with the flow and change plans
Staying at Prossers proves it really is a small world, Anoushka is half Mauritius. A huge Maurition family were also staying there and turns out they know some of Anoushkas family who live in Mauritius! They recommended we go to Goa and gave us a name of a place to stay. We eventually got a bus booked to travel down to Goa, a 12 hour night sleeper bus.....not looking forward to the first sleeper bus journey.
Next stop is goa.
