G'Day Folks
We left Adelaide this moring and headed out of town towards the Barossa Valley for our day of wine tasting. On the way there we had one very important stop at the Giant Rocking Horse which is 60 feet high but does not rock!!!
Then it was straight down to business and our first winery of the day, Wolf Blass. Here we tasted 6 wines and 1 port which was a good start to the day and it still wasn't midday!!!
From here we had to eat a lovely 3 course lunch at the Vine Inn as this would help soak up the wine that we were going to have in the afternoon. Our second winery was the Vinecrest Estate, a small boutique place that does not sell to supermarkets and again we tasted several wines and a couple of ports. By now we were really into the swing of things and were eager to get to the Barossa Wines place. This is where we tasted our first sparkling wine of the day as well as several other wines all of which were excellent. We rolled out of here and back onto the bus to visit our last winery of the day. The Kies estate is family run and we decided to stick to white wine until we saw a sparkling Merlot and could not resist!!!!
By the time we had finished here we had tasted 23 different wines today and it was very enjoyable. We even picked up a couple of bottles for later this evening.
On our way back we just had time to fit in the 'Whispering Wall' it is an old dam that has really good acoustic properties and you can have a conversation from each end of the dam a 140 metres apart just by whispering which was pretty cool.
It was then back to the City for us and a lie down for 1/2 hour to stop the room spinning!!!!
Lots of Love
