Now i'm not sure if we were up early because we went to bed really early or it was the fact that we were ready to leave Vang Vieng behind but by 8.15am we had got up and were queueing at the bank for money to leave!!!!
Our bus arrived at 9am and we loaded onto it then sat on the old runway till 10.30am when it decided that we could not squeeze any more bodies onto it and off we went.
It was the express bus and the journey to Vientiane the nation's capital was a 4 hour affair with the obligatory stop at one of the drivers relatives houses so they could charge us for using the loo and sell us crisps and beer!!!!
Luckily someone requested to be dropped off in the city and Mel spotted that it was close to where we had booked to stay so we jumped up as well, a few other people disembarked then nearly all the bus followed.
We are staying in a Guest House on the river front, when i say river I mean the Mekong which has been with us all the way through Laos and has ferried us around rather well. At the moment we are staying for 3 nights and will decide if we need longer otherwise it will be back across the border to Thailand by the end of the week.
Just going out to get some food down by the river at one of the local food stalls and maybe a BeerLao at 8000 kip/60p for a big bottle it's a bargain.
Will report back tomorrow on our day in the Capital.
Lots of love
M & M
