We set off on our trip to Fraser Island in our 4x4's with Sunrover, first calling in at Rainbow Beach, so named for it's coloured sands (although a storm had washed a lot of the sand away so we don't think we saw it at it's best!). We decided to visit the XXXX Museum, since the beer is such a big part of Austrlian life, but I can tell you, we weren't happy about it! The tour began with a look at the different ingredients used and a look at the history of the company, told by statues of the past owners of the company (who were in fact Irish - not that you could tell from the hilarious accents!!). We safely arrived in Brisbane and have begun exploring the city. It is a lot different to Cairns, a lot bigger and more bustling and built up but it has a really nice feel to it; quite modern and arty. We did a walking tour of the different districts from the City to Fortitude Valley (where the nightlife and Chinatown are) and down to South Bank (where the riverside lagoon is). To be continued...
