The Town of butterworth is used for one thing and one only and that is transport. This meant that obviously we wanted to stay there rather than the lovely city of george town, which is only a 20min ferry ride away. But we made our decision and so on the night of our arrival we stayed there, because the cost may have been the equivalent of 20p cheeper or something. We got booked into the only hotel in the city, and went to explore, we came back after 20mins (it was that good). That night we were pretty bord and so tryed to find a place to go and get some food and maybe a beer. It happened that the only place seemed to be karioki bar and so we went inside to find about 6 blokes playing darts.....and that was it. We didnt mind as we were only getting 2 pints each, but by the end of the night we had had 3 jugs each, matt had gone home early and i'd had to take jack home a little while after, but i went back and this is where things start to get fuzzy. I remember buying another jug, and thats about it untill i wake up at 9am to get my visa. I decided to walk to the ferry, to try and clear my head(it didnt work, and being on the ferry didnt help much either). I got to George Town got in a taxi and asked to go to an atm, its at this point that i realise my card has been stolen. I decided to go to the consulate anywayas i might be able to pay afterwards, but no when i got there i did indeed have to pay before, and so for the second time my plans to get a visa had been thwarted. So i headed back to the hotel, and on the way gave all of my remaining money to the taxi driver. When i got back to the hotel matt and jack were still sleaping off their hangovers. It turned out that the night before matt had had a (very) cheeky chunnder and i (of course) had wet the bed and matts fleece. This made for a lovely smell in the room and also capped off a top notch morning! I no longer liked Butterwoth and so we decided to find a hotel in George Town.
While there an amazing thing happened, i managed to get my visa aplication into the consulate!!! The city was nice and we went for a few walks around the temples and markets. Jack and i went for a scooter ride around the island(matt couldnt handle the power of the 50cc engein). This was one of the highlights of malaysia, as we were riding on mountious roads, with tight bends and also great veiws. The one problem was that jack didnt have any sleaves and so got horrible sun burn. The Next day i (finally) picked up my visa and so we could travel up to thailand!!!
