Our first few days off the slow boat were spent exploring the city and going aroung the markets, which are very extencive. They take up one of the main streets within the town(and the town is not exactly large). Louang Phabang is surrounded by two rivers, one being the Mecong, and the other a tributary of it. On our way up to chiang mai we stoped off for the day at Ayutthaya. This is an anciant city a few hours train ride up north of Bangkok. On the train we met a dutch piolet called harrman.
