Today was the first part of our journey home and we had to set off from the hotel early as the flight from KL was at 9am. The metro was due to open at 6am but it turns out they don't like switching on elevators or lifts before that time! So the 2 heavy bags had to be lifted up one set of stairs and then down 3 different sets before we made it to the local metro station platform!
After a short wait we were in the oasis of an air conditioned metro to KL Sentral where we then had another short wait for the express to the airport. Just as we had settled in for the ride on the KLIA Express we heard a Scottish accent saying "no way!" and there was Sadie and Arthur Leith from the airport. They had been in KL to visit a friend and were returning home as well. Talk about coincidence, we chatted during the journey and then went our separate ways at check in, a lovely surprise. We managed to get ourselves and bags checked through to London which made the upcoming transfer in Singapore easier. We had time for a quick breakie in another lounge before boarding the plane for the short flight.
Flight back to SIN was only 45 minutes so again not much to write about other than it was all very efficient. As we had a bag to pick up we made our way swiftly through for another passport stamp, changed terminals, got the bag and checked it in, all within about 30 minutes. We made our way to what we have decided is the best airport lounge we have been too and had a little food and drink.
We boarded the A380 and this time we had chosen seats in the front smaller cabin. This cabin has 5 rows of 1-2-1 and was pretty full. The cabin crew and service was amazing again and there was plenty food and drinks. We both started with champagne then moved on to a SilverKris sling to help wash down the standard chicken and lamb satay Singapore Airlines always give you as an appetiser. For our lunch we had a Salmon salad and then had chosen lobster thermidor and a glass of an Australian chardonnay. Dessert was a macaroon thing followed by cheese and port.
We settled in to watch Argo which was good then Alex Cross which wasn’t, whilst sipping more SilverKris slings. Our next meal service started and Mandy had a prawn and chicken laksa and Andrew chose more satay!
After a little snooze it was almost time to land and 13hours had flown by!
We were pretty pooped when we arrived at the hotel in LHR Terminal 4 so we just tried to stay up as long as possible, which was only 10pm before crashing out and calling it a night.
