Day 32 - Sydney/Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise)
Rise n shine is early today (6AM) we have to pack and check out. We're all packed and ready to go by 8 however the guy doesn't start on reception till 9 so we head out for a coffee 1st. There's a young Chinese couple waiting to check in so we have a chat with them for a bit then do the usual checkout routine before we're in a cab enroute to the airport.
After a smooth checkin we go get some food and are soon boarding the plane to the sunny Gold Coast (They have 300 days of sunshine a year!) it's only an hour away and flying works out about $200 cheaper than the coach and about $300 cheaper than the train also both of those options take a lot longer!
Gold Coast airport is tiny (1 terminal 1 luggage carousel etc)
We decide to get a shuttle bus as they're cheaper than the taxi and quicker than bus/train. Weather is ace about 20 degrees and sunny not a cloud in sight, hurrah! Surfers Paradise has a very holiday resort feel to it lots of big hotels and shops selling towels and surf boards etc.
We checkin at the hotel and are surprised to see our double room is a 2 bedroom apartment. Downstairs has cooker/fridge freezer/couches/Foxtel (Ozzy version of Sky) The 2 bedrooms are lockable and the downstairs is shared with your "flat mate" we're sharing with a young Chinese girl but she's checking out tomorrow.
We headed to a local bar where they had some rugby/football type sport on, i think it was Ozzy rules football but not 100% sure! After a couple drinks and a big steak and mash tea we head back to the hotel to watch a bit of tele before nodding off.
