Day 39 - Brisbane/Coolangatta
Again we wake up to glorious sunshine and Blue skies, not a cloud in sight! I did wonder for a second if the weather is like this back home before laughing and deciding it'd just be raining hahaha anyways after checking out we head to train station, we need to get from Brisbane to Coolangatta and this involves a train ride followed by a bus ride, the train is huge and on time (unlike back home) and this takes us to Varsity Lakes (in the middle of nowhere) just desert type plants and a big sun & Blue skies where we have to wait for our bus to Gold coast airport. After 30 mins on a bumpy bus we arrive at the airport and as the hostel is only 5-10 mins away we decide to walk. I was a little unsure at 1st as there didn't seem to be any paths just roads however once we reached the freeway we quickly found our way there.
The hostel is pretty quiet compared to most we've been too as it's near the airport i think most people just use it for 1 night before their flight or as they land etc, has a pool, hammocks, bbq area, pool table/ping pong/table football and free brekky!
We decide to go check out Coolangatta town via the beach. Looks a lot like a quiter version of surfers paradise, same buildings/types of restaurants but the people there are a bit older. Looks like Aussies version of Florida where a lot of people retire to but also a few surfers dotted around. The weather is awesome again about 25 and pure sun however tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy so we make the most of it by grabbing a couple of beers and sit in the hammocks till the sun goes down.
After tea Rhona decides she wants a game of Scrabble so we get the board out, we were playing for about 2 hours and in the end i was victorious (this was despite Rhona cheating and making up rules as she went along! :P )
After this we both watched the film Dorian Gray before nodding off ... earlier in the day i commented on how quiet the airport was even though we were only 5 minutes away, this however changes at night and lots of planes were coming and going to the early hours .. ear plugs tonight methinks!
