Day 86 - Singapore/Kuala Lumpur
Well we're up, showered and making the most of the free toast before we have to check out and head for the coach. Due to a lot of the roads being blocked off for the grand prix we decide it'll be easier to get a taxi to the coach station rather than manouvering around back streets hoping to get there on time.
We check out and jump in a taxi and the taxi driver is lovely .. although a liverpool fan so him and Si had a bit of banter about the match and he gave us some friendly advice on what scams etc to look out for in our next destination.
The check in counter for our coach is actually in the middle of a mall so we check in and dump our bags with them while we go and get some dinner and some snacks to take on the coach. When we finally get on the coach we're the only ones on it except for the 2 drivers. The coach is due to arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 10pm but since they only have to wait for us to go through immigration it was pretty much plane sailing. We had to get off the coach twice, once to get our passports stamped to leave Singapore then back on the coach, across the bridge and off the coach again to get passports stamped to enter Malaysia. The second time we got off the coach we had to take our bags in case they wanted to scan them etc but the scanners weren't even turned on. The seats on the coach were massive as well even Si had enough leg room so not bad for about £14 each!
After about 6 hours we pulled into Kuala Lumpur(about 7pm so a little earlier than expected), the main bus station is closed at the moment so we were dropped off in a car park next to the main train station. The coach driver directed us to the centre of the city where we jumped in a taxi (or Teksi as they call it here) and were soon at our new hostel.
The guy that owns it gives us a map and shows us all the places that are in walking distance. We can see the KL tower from the roof terrace on top of the hostel and it looks amazing all lit up.
We were just about to go out after putting the bags in the room when it started pouring down so we had to dig out the umbrella! Not so bad though its still about 27 degrees when it rains. Anyway we went for some tea just around the corner from where we're staying and headed back to the hostel to plan for tomorrow and our first full day in Kuala Lumpur.
