Day 9 - Hollywood
Well today we wake up after having a bit of a lie in (first night in a private room it was brilliant!) and head down to Shelley's Cafe just off Hollywood Blvd as the hostel we're staying at gives vouchers for a discount breakfast there. We were both horrified at first when they brought the breakfast to our table as it looked like the majority of the plate was covered with fried onions EW!! Si was the brave one who tried it and discovered it was really a shredded hash brown ... very nice actually so panic over :). We're looking round the cafe people watching etc when I notice a little poster next to the till .. we're sitting in the cafe that past of Million Dollar Baby was filmed in how cool is that! There was other posters saying other films that had been filmed there but we didnt recognise any of the others.
After breakfast we head off the Universal Studios for the day, we did the Shrek 4D ride, watched how they do special effects through the ages from using props to CGI and the Terminator 3D which were all very good and I would recommend but be warned at the end of Terminator you get slammed down in your seat which is a bit of a shock and hurts a bit! The highlight of the day was when we were just walking round wondering what we should do with ourselves when I see a dog to my left. At first I just pressume its fake but then it sits up and starts wagging its tail .. its the dog from Marley and Me! My eyes lit up and Si had to queue with all the mums with their kids while I waited to cuddle and stroke Marley and have my pic took. He was soooo cute I gave him a good scratch nehind the ears (I wanted to take him home but the trainer was stood right next to him :( We went into the animal show where they had several animal actors doing tricks etc and Marley made another appearance along with the dog from the Proposal (the little white one) it was so good I would recommend it to everyone its amazing how well all of the animals are trained.
We both really wanted to do the Jurassic Park ride but both had our phones and you get soaked at the end so note to self dont take phone next time or take something waterproof to put it in!
We decided to call it a day once and were on our way out when we saw people in a wind tunnel doing sky diving simulations it looked pretty cool i'd sure rather do that than jump out of an actual plane (we've all seen hollyoaks!) anyways we carried on home on the tube and went for some mexican food Baja Fresh. Si decided to go all out and get a Lobster burrito and me wanting something healthy opted for the mango chicken salad. I tried some of the lobster but I'm not sure if I like it.
After tea we took a few more pictures of the sights on Hollywood Blvd and headed off to bed .. another big day tomorrow!
