Our last couple of days in Salta have been pretty quiet and relaxing. On Sunday we headed to a local market in the morning only to get there and find that it was not yet open. Because of this, we walked around town for a bit in the brilliant weather and went to the supermarket to purchase supplies for lunch and tea. After returning to the hostel, we made lunch, sat on the roof terrace to catch a few rays and spoke to family back at home.
Before heading out, another interesting situation befell Beth. She went into the shower and unfortunately for some reason, this hostel is lacking locks on the doors of the showers / toilets!! Beth was singing her head off in the shower only for someone to burst into the bathroom. Beth shouted something along the lines of "two seconds" and this person quickly exited. Unfortunately, he took the "two seconds" comment literally and returned almost instantly to the bathroom only for Beth to have exited the shower and be mid-drying! Again she shouted out and he quickly exited. It could only happen to Beth for the same person to walk in on her in the shower twice in the space of a minute!!
As it was the River Plate - Boca Juniors game on Sunday night we went to a local bar to catch the game. We went with Natasha who is South African girl we have met in the hostel. We had a really good night watching the game in an Argentinian bar and we headed back to the hostel after a good serving of beer and red wine to drunkily cook some scrambled eggs for tea.
Today, we went into town to have a look around the cathedral in the main square and looked around quite a few shops as yours truly fancied some shorts. Unfortunately the search for shorts was fruitless. The cathedral was brilliantly decorated although we weren't allowed to take pictures due to a mass taking place. After a look around town, we have came back to the hostel to get our stuff sorted as we are off to Bolivia tomorrow. Tea is steak for potentially the last time as we are still to determine the availability of steak in Bolivia. Guinea pig could be the meat of choice for the next few weeks!!!
Our bus to Bolivia is at 7.15 tomorrow morning so we have a nice early start ahead of us. I think we are both ready for a new country although Argentina has been really great. We're particularly looking forward to cheaper hostels and travel, although we are expecting some of the buses to make our trip from Mendoza to Salta look luxurious. Anyway, we have plenty to look forward to in Bolivia, including hopefully starting a tour of the salt flats on Thursday.
