Krakow
On arrival Olga took us to a nearby restaurant for some polish cuisine The borsch soup and pierogi (a bit like dumplings or ravioli) were unique and very tasty. A few drinks including a flavoured vodka and off to bed
Today was ours to plan so after breakfast and shopping we set off for Schindlers factory depicted in the film Schindlers list .Steven Spielberg's version was much more generous to Schindler's character than those opinions in the museum. Apparently he was a shady character who used his influence to make himself rich and exploited Jewish labour
The afternoon was probably the most outstanding tour we have had . It was a tour of a salt mine. This probably sounds absolutely boring but it is listed on Unesco sights as one of the most priceless sights in the world and we both agree with that. It's basically a huge mine that has been operating since the 1300's when salt was as valuable a silver. The salt has preserved the timber supports and it's a labyrinth of tunnels and passages with carvings and statues everywhere including a huge chapel all carved out of the salt
I doubt if our pictures will do it justice
Did our research for a meal tonight Followed one of Trip Advisors selections A beauty in one of minor platz Cool evening the first time since our trip began
Cheers
