Off we go to Williams Arizona. We were originally heading to Flagstaff but decided to stay in Williams then off to Grand Canyon the following day. We decided to take the Mojave Desert/29 Palms (part route 66) drive to Williams rather than the modern I40 (Interstate 40). The first 200k of this drive is through the Mojave Desert and provides some spectacular views with temp's reaching 41C. Woke early and strolled down to Pinocchio's in the Desert Eatery. Here you can get all you can drink champagne with every meal (yes including breakfast) for $3.99. Up at sparrow **** to get the chauffeur driven service to the airport. Picked up at 5 am by Chrysler 300, nice change from a standard taxi. It is now part of QANTAS service if you are flying business class. Flight to Brissy uneventful however the QANTAS Club in Brissy is sadly lacking and not enough seats, food was good though.
