Hello all
We had just got back from a fantastic 3 day sail around the Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland. It was a really wonderful trip. It was fate that nearly everything was booked up and we were forced to pay a little bit more. As it was so last minute that we booked the trip (the day before) we got over a third off the total price and ended up on a luxury yacht, with its own personal chef! There were only 6 guests and we all had our own room and bathroom unlike the backpacker boats which carry over 50 passengers who then all have to sleep in bunks with only one toilet between them.
We were very lucky that at last the weather seemed on our side and it has been glorious sunshine throughout. Although, 33 degrees plus did make sleeping at night with no breeze incredibly difficult. We went snorkeling on each of the three days, which was really excellent, apart from the fact that we looked like extras from star trek in our slightly too tight stinger suits. These are the full body lycra suits that one must wear in these waters due to the various kinds of deadly jelly-fish that lurk in these waters. (Don't worry mums no great white sharks, the water is at least 28 degrees so it is simply too warm for them). We saw plenty of fish and really enjoyed the experience.
As is compulsory on these trips, we went to the beautiful Whitehaven beach (see picture above), miles of white sand that flits in and out of the water making for stunning scenery. The sand is over 95% silicon and squeaks when you walk on in.
The food was totally amazing on the boat; the chef was great so only our figures suffered! Now back on dry land we feel as if the world is swaying so we're off to see if a beer will help! Love and miss you all.
