So I now have come to the end of my fanastic trip. I cannot lie I feel really sad that it has to end. But like we all know.. all good dreams end eventually. I have enjoyed time with new people some of who will be friends of mine for a long time, with family especially those who live so far away from me, friends and of course just good old time on my own. I think its something that I have come to appreciate..time on my own and listening to what I want to do. It has been an amazing journey to travel it alone and with others. I can say it has been very different experiences indeed.
I have travelled to 12 different countries not sure how many miles that is. I've crossed several land boarders into countries.. about 12 flights, numerous boats, bikes- motorbikes and push bikes, 4x4's and countless bus journeys....I have travelled to 4 countries in SE Asia. I have been to the most western town in Australia, the most easterly point of Australia.. must do the north and south next time..well I did go Tasmania..I have been on the biggest sand island in the world, climbed glaciers that have rainforest beside it. I think there are only 3 locations in the world that have that combination.. I have sampled the delightful snorkling in Fiji, as well as the most friendliest people...the mountains and terrains of South America which has been diverse and beautiful..
I have met lots of new people young and older, laughed so hard and not forgetting got very drunk with these new friends. Gosh I could not even start to name the people I have met but for the ones that I loved spending time with and will definitely be in contact with in the future.. Jess and Gareth from NZ in Laos, Caine from Malaysia, Jase, Nat, Eddy, Nick and Ross from the UK, Leo, Dee in Koh Phangan..Laura from Perth in Vietnam. Sonia in Bangkok. In Australia, Butler but then he will always be a friend..Jenny, Matt and Hannah from my West Coast of Oz tour..On the East coast there was crazy gang from Cairns (Geordies, Scousers and , Caroline, Christina, Marie, the 2 Lauras, Eva, Gillian, Orlaith, Doreen, Francesca, Anki and Leonard, Corey, Madeline, Jo, Rob and Chloe from Frazer Island.. Danny from home. In Melbourne Michelle..Ilse..Tasmania.. Sandra from Germany.. Fiji, my room buddies Haley and Lisa..and Steph plus not forgetting the gorgeous Ozzie girls :) Ashleigh, Kellsie and Meghann. NZ the fun I had with Gez and Jess..Angela, Ginny, then there was my family on the Sway bus. Katie and David from the States.. Gemma, Ben and the northern lads Dan, Matt and Dave from the UK and the lovely others I met.. Laura, Valentina, Lisbet, Lisander and many others.. SA I have had the pleasure of Aimee and Ellens company but I have met some lovely people here.. Martin from Argentina..Irish Kenneth, Gerard, Kieron and Lisa, Jennie, Hilary and Ste Alex from Sao Paulo, my German buddy in Copacabana and several other places.. Sanjeev, Meera, James, Tracey, Shelly, Michou, Jessica and Rebecca. The 4 Irish girls..in Ilha Grande :) Yanna.and many many others.. I hope i got everyone but there were so many so please forgive me. Each and every one of you made this trip amazing..it has been the time of my life. As the song goes..
I have sampled foods from all the countries I have visited. And boy did I enjoy that.. I came back far heavier then I care to mention but I have some work to do now I am home :) From one of my favourite.. Thai curries to the Khmer curries of Cambodia.. Vietnamese breakfasts of soup and noodles..the amazing spring rolls..My favourite fruit juices in the world.. in Lurang Prabang.. unreal! With the delicious night market of fresh fish and chicken..In Australia I enjoyed trying kangaroo.. the BBQ's on the beach.. I did not really enjoy the craziness of the hostel kitchens and trying to cook.. but I loved my 'family' dinners with my friends. That was the only time I enjoyed cooking in hostels. I loved the Ice Cream in OZ and NZ..man the flavours.. hokey pokey.. Fergburger, best burgers in the world..In Fiji the 'lovo' meals.. man that spinach in coconut was GOOD!!! In Peru, Ceviche and Lomo Saltado rocked my world.. empanadas..and papas fritas from the street..the steak of Buenos Aires..mouth watering steak.. so tender.. so good!! Also the Churrascaria was one of my favourite meals in Brazil, not forgetting the amazing food I ate at the hostels there. And that frozen yoghurt was expensive but so damn good :) As you can see I tried it all..
I have tried new activities.. climbing old ruins in Cambodia (Angkor Wat) and Peru (Machu Picchu), ridden on a motorbike in Saigon City and then various other places.. hiked to the longneck tribal village in Chang Mai and spent the night there in a bamboo hut with a basic sheet and mossie net.. and when it rained we all got wet :)..Hiked to tons of waterfalls and caves..seen countless temples and markets..ziplined, white water rafted.. attempted scuba diving..attended a mental Full Moon party and survived without being mugged or drugged and I lived in a 24 bed sleeper dorm!! Threw myself off a platform twice in Queenstown into a canyon.. went on a shotover jet.. (not scary AT ALL though) climbed mountains, hills, volcanoes, glaciers..sandboarded off massive sandunes, seen Machu Picchu and climbed Wayan Picchu, other various Ica ruins, Uyuni the Salt flats, the wild west of Tupiza and horse riding on wild horses, Iguazu Falls, Christ Redeemer..been to a Favela night and day and danced with the locals..I think it's safe to say I have tried EVERYTHING I could possibly do.
Most importantly I feel so happy and grateful to have experienced this trip. It's amazing how you can come home and slot so easily back into your old life but I am fortunate to have done this trip and I can say It really has been the trip of a lifetime and the memories will remain forever.. as well as the pictures and my new friends.! I guess you can say its been an eventful 9.5 months :) I look forward to the next year and to what it will bring me....This trip also made me realise how lucky I am ( I already knew it but to have such a great family, I love how close we are. And I have the bestest male and female friends anyone could ever have! This trip made me realise this even more plus it was interesting to see who kept in contact when I went off to explore ) Lastly a big thank you to those who read my blogs. I hope it has kept you entertained.. Much love to you all! xxx
