Our Amazing Trip to the West
Monday 17th April
The next leg of the trip, was 417km into Gladstone SA.
We had lunch at Morgan, a very pretty spot on the Murray then onto Gladstone Caravan Park, SA. What a find. This park was just amazing, with good clean amenities and a great camp kitchen. An absolute first for us; the BBQ needed 20c, so the owner told us the money was waiting for us on the barbie!
Small town hospitality is just amazing.
Prior to entering South Australia, we had to go through the Quarantine Station. We had been warned about how strict the quarantine laws are when heading into SA with huge fines applicable. We were not permitted to take any fresh fruit or vegetables into the State. We were prepared for this, so cooked what we could, and even though we had a long way to go before we could buy anything very fresh, we were into the tinned fruit and vegetables, and lots of rice and pasta.
Had to be ever conscious of this as we travelled along.
