We started the journey from KLIA on Wednesday, 15 June via Qatar Airways. The airline was good, with good in-flight entertainment selection and good-looking cabin crew. Food was alright, but truly MAS still has the best cabin crew service so far.
We stopped for transit at Doha International Airport, Qatar at around 11pm, where we waited for about two hours before we boarded the next plane to Heathrow. This time we got a bigger aircraft (which means bigger leg room!) - and I just resumed watching my favourite TV shows!
A long 7 hours later, we finally arrived at Heathrow at 7am and since like 4 other planes landed at around the same time, it took almost one hour for us to go through immigration! But Alhamdulillah we did not have problems with the officer as we had all the documentation ready with us.
Then, we took the free train from terminal 4 to terminal 1 to meet our other friend who is flying in from Ireland (he flew to UK from KL 2 days earlier). Once reunited, we all headed to the underground station to Paddington to store our bags.
That was my first ride on London's famous underground train, and it wasn't the smoothest journey. First, from Heathrow we took the train to Hammersmith (£5) to get into Zone 2 where we can then purchase our Day Travelcard for £6.60 (unlimited rides for the day).
Most of the trains stations were undergoing major renovation/extension works so we had to take many flights of stairs. So carrying a 14 kg luggage after a 14 hour flight is no fun. Once in Paddington, we left our bags at the Left Luggage place and we are now free to roam in London! Yeay!
We went to King's Cross station to look for the fictional Platform 9 3/4 (Harry Potter fans would know this!). We found the "wall", although not quite as I expected. Initially I was a little shy to take photo there because there were so many people, but then, heck, who cares kan? But after the three of us started to pose for photos at the "platform", many others started to follow suit. Hehe. Semua malu-malu rupanya.
Next, we went to Madame Tussaud's. I had purchased the tickets online (together with tickets to the London Eye for 20% off) so we did not need to queue.
Once inside, the first "person" I took photos with is Daniel Radcliffe! :) They segregated the celebs based on A-listers, music and movie stars, sports personalities, the Royal family, political figures and even Bollywood stars!
