We arrived in Denizli after a 10-hour overnight bus ride on Kamil Koc at 5:55am, just as the call for Fajr prayer was heard at the masjid nearby.
We were so tired as we had had a long day before that in Göreme and barely slept in the bus, so we were glad to find that the hotel that we booked via Airbnb (Yilidrim Hotel) is just in front of the bus station!
We got ourselves checked in, had a nice long shower and rested for a bit before we went down for breakfast - and by 8:30am we had a shuttle pick up to bring us to Pamukkale.
The tour guide asked if we wanted to join the guided tour (TL70, discounted from TL100 apparently) but we politely declined. They brought us to the travel agency, again to coax us to take their tour package and again we declined and decided to go in by ourselves (we felt that it was not worth it to pay so much).
We paid the entrance tickets (TL25) and started exploring the Hierapolis, yet another one of UNESCO's World Heritage Site in Turkey.
We had to take off our shoes to walk on the Entrance to the Traventines, all the while admiring the untouched white beauty and feeling the surface with our bare feet. The Traventines had blue water on the terrace which looked beautiful. We were blessed that it was a nice sunny winter's day that we had to take off our jackets! :)
We walked along the path to look at the various ruins of the once Roman Empire. There were fountains, Roman baths and streets which are all undergoing ongoing excavation process.
We walked towards the Theatre, which reminded me so much of the Colosseum in Rome, Italy; albeit on a much smaller scale. We hung around there for quite awhile, admiring the beautiful view from up there and enjoying the lovely weather.
There were a lot of Malaysian tourists that day, and even the three Filipinos we saw during our Göreme Green Tour who took the same bus with us from Göreme to Denizli the night before!
Decided we've seen enough, we proceeded back to leave but using another exit. We left at the South Gate (we entered at the North) and it would be a fair bit of walking to get to Pamukkale town for catch the bus back to Denizli.
The taxi driver offered TL25, then TL20 then TL15 to drive us but we declined as we were on a tight budget. We started walking down the road and minutes later, the taxi driver drove towards us and agreed to take us for only TL10.
He dropped us at the bus stop and not long after we got on the bus back to Denizli town (TL3.50). We walked around the town, secured our shuttle transport to the airport (which I later realized we would just need to wait for the Turkish Airlines bus to come pick up in front of Business Address Hotel) and had lunch before heading back to the hotel.
After a quick nap and freshening up, we checked out and walked to Business Address Hotel about 5 minutes away to wait for our shuttle. The journey took 1 hour and costs TL10. We got to Denizli airport (a small one though) by 6:40pm.
Our Turkish Airlines flight was at 7:40pm. Finally, time to fly to Europe and explore Istanbul!
However, the plane was delayed and we only took off at about 8.10pm, and we had to wait for so long for our luggages at the bag carousel. Then the long walk to the Metro station AND the loooong walk to look for our hotel.
We finally found Buhara Hotel close to 11.30pm, checked ourselves in...and time to hit the bed!
