Napiers Travel Around The World in 50 Days
Alhoa from Happy Hawaii.
What a bazaar day we have had. Never in my life have I lived the same day twice! We Got up in Chchch at 8am on 21/2/06 packed ready for our flight to Sydney. Flew out at 3.30pm and arrived in Sydney after a three hour flight at 4.30pm - two hours gained! Left Sydney at 9.10pm for a eight and half hour flight to Honolulu. What an experience that was we were tossed about for the the first 7 hours - flew threw a terrible storm, just as they were serving breakfast the captain announced that we could have hot drinks as the worst was over - I just kept thinking there was no where to make an emergency landing!! it was all pacific ocean between Oz and Hawaii - David - well he managed to sleep but did say he found it very rough! Anyway after 8 and half hours we landed safely in Honolulu at 8.50am on the morning of 21/2/06 so we reckon we have now gained 23 hours! Honolulu is just as we imagined Wiakiki beach is great for the surfers but the main town is very built up. We took the trolley bus round town to get our bearings until our room was ready at 1.30pm. Hard to imagine the polynesians are the same tribe as the maoris but very american obviously. Lots of stretched limos it seems to be the norm for taxis here, and the police cars, well I keep expecting Starky and Hutch to appear at any moment! and while watching the surfers kept getting the tune to Hawaii five o ringing in my ears - too much tv in my youth. We intended just chilling out at the beach while we were here, however, they have had storm and flood warnings here which is very unusual but sure enough at 2pm the heavens opened and we have had thunder and lightening. Booked a couple of trips tonight, one to Pearl harbour on Friday morning and the other is a Hawaii Dinner Cruise on sat night. Hopefully the weather will clear soon and we'll be able to relax on the beach.
Can't believe that we have been and seen many of the locations of the Lord of the Rings film and never seen the film and wait for it girlies, I am the only one who is not hooked on LOST! and guess where our trip takes us - yes to the film location where they are filming a new series. The guy said I may be lucky enough to see Jack! as if I knew who Jack was!! anyway I will get some photos and if I am lucky enough I'll get Jacks autograph for you heart throbs at Ladybank. love to all Lynne & David xx
