Napiers Travel Around The World in 50 Days
well our plans to have a relaxing time on the beach have gone out the window. We have spent a total of four hours on the beach due to the weather - well actually the day we went to pearl Harbour was a roaster but we had to be away early to get in and yesterday - sat - we had to leave the beach early because we were going on the Star of Honolulu for dinner. Today sunday is very overcast so we decided to have a walk to the far end of the Wiakiki beach in between showers it was fine although much cooler. Visited the Aquarium which was very good, then walked through the park at Diamond Head and came across the bandstand where the Royal Hawaiian Band where staging a concert so we sat there for an hour and a half, it was a mix of hawaiian and mdern music with singers and a hula dancer. Lots of events had been organised for today in the park but because of the weather everyone was leaving early.
Our cruise on the Star of Honolulu was disappointing but like the one in Sydney - full of Japs. The food was so so but the entertainment was good. Saw a humpback whale while we were sailing didn't manage to capture it on the camera although it didcome out of the water a few times. We were sat next to a couple from Utah, who were so miserable it was no fun at all we would have rather sat by ourselves. We got of the coach before our hotel as Davey - yes Davey wanted to have a look at the shops!! and we even made a purchase - no it wasn't another Alhoa shirt don't worry, it was a picture for the house. Went into the Hawaiian Centre and had a sample of lots of different foods and coffee from the island, by the looks of things a lot of the americans go there nightly - I think it is to save on buying food!
This is our last night in Honolulu we leave for San Francisco at 2pm Monday. That should help get us used to the cold weather we will face when we come home. The temp is about 10-15 degrees c there at the moment. Not going to have a lot of time to do anything but we have been told by a couple of people that we have to go down the steep zig zag road where ever that is. Definately going to give Alcatraz a miss doesn't appeal to either of us. So alhoa from Honolulu, we have no desire to come back here, very busy and a bit built up like Hong Kong, watching the surfers was the best thing about it - if - you can get a space on the beach. love to all xx
