Napiers Travel Around The World in 50 Days
First day in San Francisco is almost over. We have today done the City sightseeing tour, travelling up to twin peaks, to look out over SF seen the most crooked road in the world - Lombard Road, visited the a church and cemetery which were featured in the Alfred Hitchcock film - Vertigo, uniteresting to us. Drove over the Golden Gate bridge twice, and there Davey lost his beloved baseball cap that he bought in Napier - very upset he was - we were standing to have our photo taken and the wind caught it and blew it into the water never to be seen again. Lots of the tour could have been done ourselves but it was nice to find our way around. Visited the Japanese Tea Garden and the botanical gardens which we wouldn't have found on our own. We got of at Fishermans Wharf where we are staying and had a walk round the wharf. Lots of things to see - but couldn't believe the amount of sea lions perched on top of the pontoons at Pier 39. Apparently after the 1989 earthquake about 50 of them appeared and refused to leave so the state granted them sancturay there and now there is about 300, stinking and making a terrible noise, but a visitors attraction. Had dinner at an Italian restaurant overlooking the pier and out to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. Thought about going to see Cats tomorrow night if we can get tickets. Tomorrow is our last day so we plan to have a walk around some of the sight to get some photos, it was impossible on the bus with so many people onboard. We are staying in the Marriott which is very nice and central. Looking forward to getting home and seeing everyone. We've had a great time and can't believe how fast the time has gone by. See you all soon Lynne & DaveyXX
