Headed across the border from Malawi to Zambia and straight down the South Luangwa National Park.. renounded for its leopard sightings!! The 60kms that equated to 3hr bumby road drive left the crew questioning our will to live.. imagine a 3hr neverending roller coaster ride.. Hideous!! The campsite we stayed in is well known for its noctural visitors of the wildlife variety and im not sure i know anyone who will believe me when i say i was standing 5ms (literally) away from a crazing hippo.. Seriously!! After dark we had to be chaperoned by locals around the site just incase of charging hippos or elephants .. to add to the experience i had the pleasure of being woken up at 4am to the surpisingly loud chewing a of a hippo crazing right next to my tent.. needless to say it was a sleepless night.. but a true african wildlife experince!! I did two game drives in the park itself, a morning and nighttime one. The 4x4 open door vehicles added an intimate experience of the wildlife we saw.. alas no leopard though. The group has started to wonder if the leopard is just a mystical legend created to lure silly tourist.. just like us !!
Head west to the capital Lusaka for a night stop over only on our way to Livingstone, the zambian home to Vic Falls.. and what a surreal experience the falls were. They were the highest water level they have been in 18yrs and we were drencht to the bone after visiting them. I can not put in words how beautiful and surreal the falls were so WOW will have to do for now!!
We finished off our stay with a booze cruise (all you can drink) along the zambezi river. It resulted in 2 of our boys visiting the inside of a zambian cell for anight and what a cultural experience that was! For the ones that behaved liked me, i got to soak up the african sun while cruising down the river with G and T's in hand and let out MY frustrations on some after campfire (rather drunken) african drumming!! Cheers for the good times Zambia!!
love to all xxx
