I had no idea what was in store in the lovely land of Namibia and therefore pleasantly not dissapointed! Our first night was spend at a lovely camp ground just over the border with open air shower and toilets that i have now become well accustomed to here in africa! It was the perfect gate way to the Ethosa National park where we spend 2 days safaring in our huge beast of a truck! Suprise.. and much to my own suprise we did actually managed to catch some lovely sightings of africa's finest .. even with the roaring of our engine compliments of a lost muffler in that awlful road in zambia! A sunset safari allowed us to grab sneak peaks of Aslan (a fully grown male lion) drinking at a watering hole.. with lingering springbok in the distance.. as a group we had never wished anything so much dead in our lives.. you cant blame us .. the thought of a live kill to finish off our african wildlife experience would have been serenly wild! But alas no it was not meant to be!
We headed to a cheetah farm were we camped over night.. we got to pat the farmers 'pet' cheetah .. the sign on the gate 'beware of the cat' had never been so true! and as an extra sweet treat just before heading back to camp, they brought out a 6 week old cheetah cub with mohawk mane inclusive.. the cutest thing i have ever seen!
On our way down south we stop off at the brandberg mountain.. to hike up to infamous 'white lady' cave painting over 4000 year old history right infront of us was more than a little humbling! A seal colony later or should i say seal Hong Kong as the sheer number of them would have put the asian capital to shame ... we arrived in Swakopmund. The place felt earily familiar and nicely informed by my mom it was.. i had been here as a kid. I had no idea how much german history Namibia had and Swakopmund was its prime example.. far too much Jagermeister included!! We got the chance to get involved in some adrenaline pumping action which for me included racing across the Namibian desert on a quad bike like i was evil canival myself... and finally .. yes i actually did it .. i skydived!! it was the most amazing experience that i would certainly pay to do again.. although i am not sure that free falling over the worlds oldest desert as it meets the ocean could be beaten!
We finished off our time in the South of Namibia where we climbed/hiked the biggest sand dune i've seen in my life .. ironically called 'big daddy' and then after taking in the view .. promptly bolted down the side of it as fast as we could.. what a rush! Stopped off to see soussesvlei, a massive dead river bed and Dune 45 and that was our time done in Namibia..
Next we cross the border of South Africa and i will at home at last! WOW!!
Love to all xxx
