Lyndall is a backpacker!!! Finally... is more like it !! Finished up my four month contract at wexham park hospital.. sad to leave... but not sad enough to keep me away from euro summer 08 baby!!!... of course. After much group organising (Thanks girls!) organising being group not because a group of us are traveling ... only group effort because it turns out that lyndall at the age of 24yrs can not make an alone decision when it comes to traveling! But we finally got there and i decided on.. me, the south of europe and roughly around 9 weeks.. a perfect mixture i reckon!
So here i am sitting in florence updating my blog... Started by travels by flying into munich in germany... had no real expectations of the place but was i in for a suprise... I learnt all about germany, germans and munich through the most german form we could find.. beer that is ! Munich is the worlds home to the finest beer garden and halls... and with it shares alots of WW2 history .. home to hitler and the 1st concentration camp.. which yes i did actually take an interest in too...
Moved across to austria for a few days in a sleepy sking village called St Johan .. spent most of the time chillen, drinking coco and wafting in the fresh mountain air... which apparently must have got to me because ironicly (as it is austria that is cohosting the euro soccer cup) i enjoyed my first soccer game ... with the locals which maybe made all the difference...
Have spent the last two weeks or so traveling around italy from venice ... which at first wasnt at all romantic .. until Bek (my travel buddy) and me enjoyed a romantic dinner for two beside one of the canals at sunset... Acute reminder that i may need to find myself a man! :) then to Rome ... which although has some of the most fantastic what i like to call ..right in your face history i have ever seen i kinda got the feeling that the unlike other countries who try to lure tourists in.. Italy kinda just says ... hey we have the history and we know your gonna come see it anyway so why should we bother... cause all the sights in rome cost enough to allow you to barter your left kidney on the black marget for ... and none of them include information.. not a pamplet.. a map... a plaque, not even an arrow to point which direction to go ... you can of course get your self a personal tour guide though ... which would require you to auction off your other kidney. But hey as they say ... when in Rome ...!!
Now what to you think of when i mention the word Naples... pizza... mafia ?? Well let me assure you from personal experience that you managed to get both... however it is a great central place to explore places like the amalfi coast ( stunning sea side town) and Pompeii... of which i did both! I have wanted to visit pompeii since doing a project on it at school when i was seven... so you can only imagine my excitement and it was not a dissapointment !!
Siena and Florence are my last 2 place to touch on .. and feel i can group them together seeing they are both tuscany town... and base themselves around sun.. seistas and great food ... need i say more .. i am in heaven !!
I will leave it there ... as alas internet in running out !! feel better now that i got that all written down... much love to all
