Took the around 8hr bus from Mae Hong Song back to Chang Mai, where e planned to go to the train station and get a ticket for the overnight to Bangkok asap, but when w got to the station a girl told us the train was booked up for around a week. So we waited around in the station for a while (much to the disappointment of the harrassing tuk-tuk drivers then took the overnight bus to Bangkok.

We decided to stay in the Khao san area again as we knew our way around and still needed to see the Grand Palace (see pic) which was cool, but a little overrun with tourists. Plus we missed the free english tours they have... although if you pick up a leaflet it's all pretty much self-explanatory.

We went to an excellent foodstall for food and then did some unsuessful shopping on khao san. The first time we visited here everything seemed so cheap, ut after travelling around some other places I guess it's not.

At one point we passed the place where we had eaten on the first night of our intrepid trip when we met Hazel, Raj and Con and we saw the latest intrepid tour sitting at the same table... which was weird!
