Shanti Lodge 400baht (around 6.45) for double room with air con

After a crazy morning of last minute packing mel and I set off on the 10th Sept, arriving in Bangkok on the 11th. Grabbed ourselves a bright pink taxi to the lovely Shanti Lodge and after all the travel just crashed out. Ate some great food in the hotel and crashed out... again!

Had my first meetings with the local beasties... cockroaches and ghecko's... I like the ghecko's but still not too keen on the cockroaches... but guess I'll have to get over that pretty quickly! I also had my first encounter with the infamous "squat" toilets (which I can guarantee are no worse than spiders nightclub!) along with showers which backed onto an alleyway where the walls didn't go all the way up (luckily no peepers!)

Spent a couple of days in Bangkok sampling the local beer, markets and exploring our surroundings before we meet our Intrepid Tour group for the next leg of the trip.
