Mysore, Karnataka State, 16th Feb: We arrived after the night bus to a really hectic city and not at all what we expected from Mysore. Here we again recovered from the bus journey and booked onward train (thank god!!) tickets to Ooty.
In mysore we visted the Maharaja's Palace which was amazing, it was redesigned by a Brit in 1912 and it totally opulent but beautiful, unfortunatly you can't take pictures inside so i can't show you but, gold carved doors, mahogany and ivory carved furniture, pistatchio and gold painted walls and you get the picture.
We also spent the morning at the Devaraja fruit and veg market which was fantastic for a couple of foodies like me and Fred! Borough Market eat your heart out!! There was so much incredible food and flowers on display i hope the photo's do it justice, were we desperate to cook after visiting!!
That afternoon we took another bus to Ooty an old British hill station. The journey should of taken four hours it actually took six and was literally the bumpiest ride i've ever been on - i actually had bruises on my bum cheeks! However aside from that the journey, winding up through the hills to the town, was beautiful and worth the pain.
