I got back from safari on saturday. I was in a group of four and none of us knew each other but we all got on really well. We went to tarangire national park, the ngorogoro crater and lake manyara national park.
Saw so many animals!! Got about 2m away from a pride of lions, very close to elephants and wildebeast. Also saw loads of hippos and were priviledged to also be surrounded by a group of 15 giraffes which made some great photos!
It was a great trip but the company we went with wasn't great as the vehicle hadnt been checked beforehand and we got a puncture on the way! the jack we had didnt work properly so it took ages to flag someone down on an empty road so we could borrow there jack and change the tyre! Despite this none of the tyres were in good condition and we kept thinking we were going to break down again but luckily we didnt. Thats what you get i suppose when going with the budget option!
I am still in Moshi at the moment which is the town at the base of Kilimanjaro. It is a great place with loads of people here that have either climbed kilimanjaro or are going on safari or volunteering in the area. i have met up again with a girl I met in zanzibar and we are going to arusha tomorrow which is about 60km away. We are going to go to the rwandan genocide tribunal which is being held there. its a public thing where you can go in and watch people being interviewed about the genocide. its been going on for over 10 years!! A couple of people i have met have gone and said it can be really interesting.
After that we are going to embark on a 22hour bus journey to Kampala, the capital of Uganda! I will then begin my volunteering work with soft power which im looking forward too. it will be abit of a shock having structure to my day again but it will be well worth it!
